This cute sloth always has a happy smile. Perhaps because he spends his life quietly upside down in a tree with his claws. In the middle of the leaves, which he eats daily. Those leaves contain very little energy, so he has to eat a lot and often and move little so as not to waste energy. 

 The sloth lives high in the trees of the forests of Central and South America, such as the Atlantic Rainforest. About once a week, the sloth very slowly climbs down to defecate on the ground. Because pooping upside down is not so convenient. It is about 50 cm long, weighs 8 kg and can live for 40 years. Sloths do not travel more than 40 meters per day. On the ground, they don't even move faster than 30 centimeters per minute. This makes them the slowest mammals in the world. They can swim very well. A sloth can hide well. Because he is so slow you can hardly see him. His fur is also a bit green. That's because algae and bacteria live between the hairs. In captivity, sloths sleep about 15 to 20 hours a day. In the wild about 8 hours a day. A sloth is not related to monkeys. It belongs to the group of anteaters and armadillos.
